Agnisaar Kriya

About

Agni means fire and saar means essence . Agnisar produces fire (heat) inside the body and destroys the germs inside. 


Procedure 


1. Sit in a comfortable Position or asana OR You can also do while standing bend slightly forward from the waist while keeping the back straight
2. If you are in standing position Take support by resting your hands on your knees or just above so that the back is not strained. Please make sure the arms are straight.
3.Take a deep breath.
4. Exhale fully contracting the abdomen and lungs so that all the air is expelled out.
5.Hold your breath and flap your abdominal muscles in and out (do not exhale like you do in kapalbhati!)
6.Do not inhale or exhale while you are flapping your abdominal muscles.

Duration 

2 - 3 times .

Benefits

1. It is helpful in reducing abdominal fat .
2. Removes several gastro-intestinal complaints such as excessive gas, hyperacidity, indigestion etc.
3. Those who are suffering with constipation, indigestion and loss of appetite they should get good benefits with its regular practice.

Kapalbhati Pranayam

About

'Kapal' means FOREHEAD and 'Bhati' means Light. Hence, Kapal-Bhati refers to that exercise which makes the forehead luminous and lustrous. 
According to baba Ramdev its the best pranayam for weight loss .
Apparently extremely obese people can lose even 1 kg in a day. 
Kapalbhati is the practice which bring a state of 'luminary', or 'Clarity' in mind as well as in body.  
Practicing Kapalbhati pranayama in the morning with empty stomach or 2-3 hours after meal will be highly beneficial.



Procedure 

1. Sit in a comfortable Position or asana. 
2. Close your eyes. 
3. Exhale through both the nostrils  gently and softly so that you stomach will go in automatically .
4. Take a deep breath in .(Do not take much effort while inhaling the air)
5. Forcefully exhale out in strokes and contract your tummy while doing so remember 
IN ONE SECOND ONE STROKE
6. Make sure that while exhaling, you are throwing the air out from the lungs with full force.

Duration 

Initially start with 3 mins and gradually increase it to 5 mins
If you feel tired  in between, take a break for a min and continue again.
In a minute you should be able to do 60 strokes.
You can do it as long as you can.

Bhastrika Pranayam

About

Bhastrika is a Sanskrit word which means "bellows". 
In Bhastrika pranayama, the breathing pattern resembles the blowing of bellows. Bhastrika pranayama is all about inhaling and exhaling completely so that your body gets maximum amount of oxygen.
Anybody practicing Bhastrika pranayam will be filled with energy and power. 




Procedure 

1. Sit in a comfortable Position or asana. 
2. Close your eyes. 
3. Breathe in through both the nostrils forcefully, till the lungs are full and diaphragm is stretched. 
4. Then breathe out forcefully.

Duration 

2 - 5 mins.

Things to Remember

1. Those suffering from high blood pressure or from any heart disease should not do this Pranayama.
2. While breathing in the abdominal area should not blow up. You have to fill the air in the chest area, i.e. up to diaphragm, so that the part of the chest with its ribs swells.
3. In summer season, reduce the number of repititions of this Pranayama.
4. One must do this Pranayama for the duration of three to five minutes every day.
5. Incase both the nostrils do not open on account of ailments like severe cough or sinus etc., for such persons they should first close the right nostril and do respiration (exhalation as well as inhalation) through the left nostril. Then the left nostril should be closed and respiration should be done by the right nostril. This method of alternate breathing should be continued at the desired speed viz. slow, moderate or fast, till both the nostrils open simultaneously. 

6. While doing this Pranayama keep both the eyes closed and mentally chant the mantra “OM” throughout the exercise of Pranayama.

My Elliptical


Things I like about this elliptical : 

1) Its an ideal budget friendly home use elliptical
2) Its simple to use
3) It has Easy to read LCD display to view your speed, time, distance and calories burned.
4) Its not very heavy and can be portable
5) It has speakers =)
6) Has Pre-installed Workout Programs

(I am not the right person to judge its technicalities, I am just giving my opinion as a layman)

Things I dislike about this elliptical :

1) Its not as smooth as a professional gym elliptical.
2) It can carry max upto 130 kg.
3) The machine slightly squeaks .

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a home use budget elliptical and you weight under 130 kg and  you are ok with it being not as perfect as a professional elliptical and mainly you want to lose weight...
THEN GO FOR IT!!!!

Bhramari Pranayam

This breathing technique derives its name from the black Indian bee called Bhramari.It is one of the best breathing exercises to release the mind of anger, agitation, frustration or anxiety. It is very effective in instantly calming your mind down.



Procedure 

1. Sit in a comfortable Position or asana.
2. Place your index fingers on your ears. There is a cartilage between your cheek and ear. Place your index fingers on the cartilage.
3. Take a deep breath in and as you breathe out, gently press the cartilage. You can keep the cartilage pressed or press it in and out with your fingers, while making a loud humming sound like a bee.
4. You can also make a low-pitched sound but it is a good idea to make a high-pitched one for better results.

Anulom vilom means opposite .It is basically breathing alternately through both the nostrils.

1. Sit in a comfortable Position .
2. Close your eyes.
3. Breathe with one nostril open and the other closed by use of your thumb.
4. Now release the air by another nostril which was closed while inhaling the air and closing the other nostril by use of ring finger.
5. Take deep breathe by the nostril through which air was exhaled last time and exhale the air through another nostril

Duration 

3-5 min .

3.Exhale air to the maximum possible level fully contracting the abdomen and lungs so that all the air is expelled out .
4.Hold your breath for few seconds then inhale fresh air.
